FRC – Team Mean Machine Robotics – and CamTech

If you are in CamTech and a contributing member of Team Mean Machine and you are interested in school credit for you time spent at the shop and at competitions – let your team mentors know.  We are working on a way to make this happen. 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders this year.

FRC Mean Machine Open House at our Liberty MS Clubhouse and Workshop, Monday evening 7pm, September 21.

CamTech ASB club forming

The CamTech ASB club is forming around the previous CHS Tech Club. Be thinking of folks you want to nominate to lead us.  Officers nominations in the third week of school.  There are many activity, field trip, and competition decisions to be made early this fall.  And we need to complete the process of becoming a chapter of SkillsUSA – many excellent opportunities abound once we are connected.

CamTech shirts? Help us create our CamTech “Brand”

One of our parents has volunteered to lead CamTech in designing and buying t-shirts and other possible wearables … Interested?  Here is what we know so far: We will be using the wining 2015 Orientation logo (see your email); students would have to purchase their own shirts; Staff likes the idea of polo-shirts for seniors/juniors only, with t-shirts and hoodies for anyone who wants one; staff likes the idea of designating Lab/Strand in some manner (open to suggestions); Ron likes black with bright red lettering (if you want something different, get your voting block ready!!).  Here is the local company we are considering getting our gear from …. what looks interesting to you? … InStichesAgain

New CamTech applicants fall 2015-2016 SY?

We have had several students and parents ask about getting into CamTech this fall ….  this is possible (two-week window in September) … Step 1: talk with a current CamTech junior/senior to make sure it makes sense for you, and to ask for their support as a reference … Step 2: talk with a CamTech teacher, outside of class time, to make sure it makes sense … Step 3: complete the online application … Step 4: after getting an appointment, complete the interview with CamTech staff.

CamTech Juniors and junior Parents meeting

Friday October 2, 5:30pm in Tech Room 504.   This is for any junior parents and their students who are wanting to complete an internship next summer or next fall. Anyone interested may attend.   Yes, this may seem somewhat early to you, but after 6 years of doing internships for MST Magnet, we have learned it is best to get started now.  Agenda:

program description – Q&A – pass out paperwork and begin filling out forms

CamTech Update…

updateAre you wanting to change the world? Do you like to solve problems using your mind or your hands? Do you like working with people? Do you want to go beyond being graded on what you know by writing on paper… To what you can do?

School starts Wednesday September 2, 2015.

CamTech is year-’round for those interested. See the Camas Codes and the Camas Community Education for summer and year-’round opportunities.

Our next meeting will be Monday August 24, 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the CamTech Labs area of Camas High School. Look for an email from CamTech staff during the week of August 12th with the meeting details.

A link that paints a picture of where Camas School District is going with its education system – 13 minute long Tedx Talk – gives a glimpse of the world we want to be preparing our students to succeed in.  Now-ist Link … and thus, using this speaker’s language, we also need to be operating using a compass and not a map, pulling and not pushing, learning and not educating … are we ready for this?
