The CHS annual Math, Science, & Technology Magnet Program Project Symposium will be held at Camas HS in the Commons and Theater on Wednesday May 22, from 5:30 PM to 8:45 PM. We would be pleased to see you at this great opportunity to showcase our students’ work.

U.S. News & World Report 2013 Best High Schools

This is the third time CHS has been awarded the Silver Medal by US News and World Report. The magazine rates more than 21,000 public high schools according to school-specific data on enrollment, ethnicity, location, school type and results of state assessment proficiency tests and Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests. Schools are given a college readiness index score, with the top scoring 4,805 schools receiving a gold, silver or bronze medal and – in the case of gold and silver schools – a numerical ranking. Our ranking was 744 nationally and #15 in the state. Go Papermakers!

Washington State Science & Engineering Results

There were 16 projects and 17 students from CSD that participated at the 56th annual state SEF in Bremerton on April 5 and 6. There were over 450 participants from all over Washington State. Below are the results from the SEF in Bremerton. Every project from CSD earned an award!!!

Sophie Shoemaker – (MST Sophomore) – 1st in Category, Pacific Science Center Award, Evergreen State College 1 trimester scholarship, WSU scholarship $3,000/yr renewable for four years, Mathematica finalist
Meghal Sheth – (MST Sophomore) – 1st in Category, Ohio Wesleyan 20.000/yr renewable scholarship, WSU scholarship $3,000/yr renewable for four years, Mathematica finalist, US Army Research Award, US Army McClellan Award, overall Bronze Medalist – all expenses paid trip to ISEF in Phoenix. (She joins Sophie who already qualified last month for ISEF Phoenix.)
Jon Bartlett – (MST Sophomore) – 1st in Category – Ohio Wesleyan 20.000/yr renewable scholarship, Mathematica Finalist
Charles Teames – (MST Senior) – 2nd in Category

SW Washington Science and Engineering Fair

Camas had 5 projects competing at the fair in Vancouver on Saturday March 16. With around 80 projects competing from the Clark County area, four Camas High School projects earned medals. Congratulations Papermakers!

(+) this award earned Sophie an all-expenses-paid trip to Phoenix in May to represent Camas and Southwest Washington in the International Science and Engineering Fair. First time ever for a Camas HS student. Good work and good luck Sophie!

The State SEF is April 5^th and 6^th – we will have 11 projects competing.
