The Columbian’s All-Region girls tennis player of the year for a second time. At state on the final weekend of May, she rolled through her first three matches without losing a set. In the state championship match, Gianan lost 6-2, 6-0 to Sumner’s Jade Lancaster, a sophomore who had won the 3A state title the previous year.

SPOKANE — If you lose a game at the Class 4A softball state tournament, the road to redemption gets longer and harder. The Camas Papermakers found redemption Saturday, winning two elimination games to earn a fourth-place trophy after falling to Monroe 8-5 in the third-place game.

Girls State Cross Country: Camas 2nd in bid for third straight title
PASCO – The Camas girls cross country team needed a bit of good news.
The Papermakers had just fallen short of their goal, a third consecutive Class 4A title at the WIAA State Cross Country Championships in Pasco.
The state champion team automatically qualifies for the Nike BorderClash meet, which matches top runners from Oregon and Washington later this month. Camas was uncertain whether the second-place team Saturday would also go.
A BorderClash representative assured the Camas runners that yes, they had qualified.
That’s when the tears began flowing.
