CHS Wins WIAA 4A Scholastic Cup!

The Scholastic Cup is the WIAA’s most prestigious annual school award. The year-long competition recognizes the top school in each of the six WIAA classifications based on academic, athletic and sportsmanship excellence. Points are awarded by a school’s finish in each of the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires State Championships and Academic State Championships.

Camas High School took home the 4A Scholastic Cup with WIAA State Championships in gymnastics, boys swimming/diving and boys track and field. Camas finished with nine top-five finishes in various sports as well as having nine teams ranked in the top-five of their respective categories academically. The honor is the first for the Papermakers who finished second in 2016-17.

Women’s Empowerment Panel

Rachel Blair and Tsering Shola, two juniors from Camas High School, had the privilege of being delegates at the 62nd United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. At the United Nations, they were able to learn about gender equality and international solutions from leaders all over the world. In order to bring the lessons that they learned at the UN back to Camas, they are hosting a Women’s Empowerment Panel on June 1st from 6:30-8:00pm in the North Commons. This event is also the kick-off for the 2018-2019 Camas DECA campaign for gender equality. Donations at the panel would be greatly appreciated to help cover the travel expenses of our UN delegates.
