Football: No. 2 Camas 64, Davis 6

Michael Matthews scored four touchdowns — two on offense and two on defense — as the Papermakers rolled to an easy win in Yakima.
Matthews got Camas (3-0) on the board early with a 2-yard touchdown run. Camas made it 14-0 on Ryan Rushall’s 54-yard touchdown catch from Jack Colletto.
After Davis scored, Matthews ran off three consecutive TDs. The first was a 5-yard run. The next two were on interception returns of 10 and 40 yards as the Papermakers opened up a 45-6 lead by halftime.
Trevor Bentley gave Camas a third defensive touchdown in the fourth quarter, returning an interception 46 yards. Read more at The Columbian

Girls place second, boys take third at Ash Creek Festival…

The Camas High School cross country teams left Union in the dust last Tuesday, at Round Lake. Yacine Guermali won the boys race for the Papermakers in 17 minutes, 15.47 seconds. He was followed by teammates Jackson Lyne (18:39), David Connell (19:03), Nick Carter (19:22), Nick Duffy (19:35), Cade Greseth (19:43), Spencer Twyman (19:49), Connor Flolo (20:26), Luc Utheza (20:47) and Luke Albert (21:20).
Emma Jenkins clinched first place in the girls race for Camas with a time of 21:26. She was followed by teammates Ellie Postma (21:54), Halle Jenkins (22:16), Rachel Blair (22:27), Madison Child (22:42), Hailee Parman (23:26), Kaylee Merritt (23:44) and Ashlin O’Neill (24:20). Thrilling Tennis Victories

The Camas and Washougal rivalry continued on the tennis courts Thursday, as the Papermaker boys defeated the Panthers 6-0, at Camas High School.

Sam Christopher topped Ryan Janiszewski 6-0, 6-2 in the first singles match, Rylan Marshall defeated Jaden Moore 6-0, 6-2 at second singles, and Jared Brophy beat Korbin McDonald 6-1, 6-1 at third singles. Read more at the CW Post Record

CHS Senior Jason Kim

Local teen tracks asteroid…
Senior Jason Kim participated in a research program this summer at the New Mexico Institute of Technology. During the 39 day program, he operated a research-grade telescope to take images of a near-earth asteroid, then wrote software to measure its position precisely and calculate its orbital path, including the chance it will impact Earth in the future. Camas defense holds Ridgefield to no shots on goal in 3-0 victory.

Sometimes the soccer ball hits the post, but following up leads to a goal.
“It’s soccer,” said Camas High School head coach Roland Minder. “You wish it would go in, but you see it all the time.”
