The Camas Little League Softball program is looking for male or female students who would be interested in obtaining volunteer hours umpiring youth softball games, ages 8-12. They can provide “travel” reimbursement of $20 per game to supplement the experience and training is provided. Games start after spring break so training would need to start next month.

The Youth Employment Summit is an event that is hosted by the Partners in Careers organization and is targeted to 16+ year olds, however younger students highly interested in career exploration are welcome to attend.  The event will take place on Tuesday, March 19th at the Clark County Event Center from 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Students in attendance can expect the following:

  • Expanded ‘Construction Fair’ hands on activities, including an indoor section where students will be able to use indoor machinery without being exposed to the weather.
  • Business recruitment efforts are expanded to bring in many more employers, including Fast Food and Retail type employers who are actively looking to hire teenagers. These employers will have their own section apart from Career Exploration businesses.
  • Computers will be available for students to apply for open positions online after meeting with employers.
  • Attending businesses will be given the opportunity to host student internships through Partners in Careers. Businesses who elect to participate will write down the names of students that they are interested in hosting as interns and their high schools, so that we may follow up appropriately. Students who qualify for the internship will then be enrolled in Career Connect Washington, and placed into their internships.
  • We’ll be highlighting spring break tours at this year’s YES. The businesses that will be providing the tours during spring break will be in attendance, and will have sign-up sheets for students who are interested in participating in the tour.

If your student is interested in attending this event, have them see Mr. Williams in room 504 to pick up a permission slip.
