CHS Drama presents William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night – Come see the excellent work of your award-winning Drama department – and have a few good laughs – before this play ends its final 3-show run this weekend. Performances are at Friday night at 7:00 pm and at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Saturday.

Yacine Guermali Wins 4A State X-Country
CHS Senior Yacine Guermali captured the 4A boys state cross country title this past Saturday, on the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. He beat more than 150 runners to the finish line in 15 minutes, 12.8 seconds.
Daniel Maton notched eighth place in 15:43 to help the Papermakers rise to fifth place. Jackson Lyne (16:44), David Connell (16:47.4), Nicholas Carter (16:56.2), Nick Duffy (16:56.7) and Cade Greseth (17:02.8) helped the boys improve from sixth-place finishes at state in 2015 and 2014.
In the 4A girls race, Issaquah spoiled Camas’ bid for a third straight state team title. The Eagles bested the Papermakers for the championship by 18 points.
Emma Jenkins earned fifth place for Camas (18:21.7), Halle Jenkins took 20th place (19:02.2), Ellie Postma claimed 26th place (19:14.7) and Madison Child notched 34th place (19:27.3). Issaquah shaved 10 points off its final score before Camas’ fifth runner crossed the finish line. Read more at the CW-Post Record
Camas Trounces Enumclaw, 56-0
Camas’ running back Michael Matthews (12) escapes Enumclaw’s defense during the first quarter. He rushed for 35 yards and one touchdown. The Papermakers rack up 443 yards of offense, 49 points, just in first half.
Every time the Camas football team scores a touchdown, a mill’s steam-whistle sound is blasted through Doc Harris Stadium. That whistle worked overtime Friday. So did the Papermakers offense.
Camas was dominant in its 56-0 win over Enumclaw in the preliminary round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
By halftime, the Papermakers were ahead 49-0, meaning the entire second half was played under the running-clock mercy rule.
Yes, that whistle sounded often as Camas (10-0) signaled its status as the No. 1-ranked team in the Class 4A Associated Press statewide poll. Read more at The Columbian
Camas Girls Soccer Shuts Out League
Alyssa Tomasini heads in a corner kick by Perri Belzer for her 19th goal of the season for the Camas girls soccer team Oct. 20, at Doc Harris Stadium. The Papermakers beat Union 3-0.
Seventeen Camas High School girls were playing soccer for their captain on Senior Night.
Hannah Taie lost her mother, Shelly, to brain cancer before the 2015 season started. The Papermakers finished in third place at the state tournament that season with a school record 20 victories.
“I wish she could have been here today. They do, too. They were all close to my mom,” Hannah Taie said. “Them playing their hearts out for her means a lot to me. It just shows what kind of team we have. We all play for each other.”Read more at the CW Post Record
College & Career Fair Follow-up
Our “Annual College and Career Fair Night” was held on October 19th here at CHS.
Families that attended got a chance to:
- Talk with representatives from more than 50 colleges, technical schools, apprenticeship programs and Military representatives in a college fair setting in the gym.
- Attend large, group sessions covering information on post high school planning resources and what students can do during high school to prepare for the next step and;
- Attend small group breakout sessions with college representatives to gather information specific to their needs. Check out the College and Career website for the list of Universities and Programs that will be in attendance.
